Vintage Test 1

Description

Trying to figure out "vintage" photography for a themed contest. It's not an area I'm super familiar with, especially since I really hate relying on digital editing and filters for my photography. I would REALLY love if anybody has any tips or feedback for me on these photos.

Content? I'm a little lost on what exactly to shoot for a vintage theme- or atleast content that is available to me. Old buildings or cars or a ferris wheel or something would be nice but I don't have access to any of those things at the moment. So I've kind of been working with some vintage-y (I guess?) shoes, and lacey stuff from my closet.

Technique? I've been trying to find a way to achieve that vintage feel during the shooting process-NOT with filters and editing afterwards. So I mean I've got my little spotlight for a light source. I started putting a thin plastic bag over my lens, and then also slightly tinting it with a brown marker. I've also been playing with my camera settings- but again, still avoiding the straight sepia or b&w type settings. I know a lot of these pictures are pretty fuzzy or grainy, and I don't mind that TOO much because it can help add to an old-photo feel, but I think I might still see if I can find a way to reduce it a bit.
